This one is going to be VERY difficult. Partially because I’m currently binge watching every past episode of SVU on Hulu. Partially because I sleep next to someone who’s also binge watching every past episode of SVU on Hulu.
We have all read time and time again – don’t look at screens an hour before bed, don’t bring your phone to bed, etc. This habit is attempting to attack that, while also pulling in another habit I want to make time for.
Starting tonight, I will put my phone “to bed” on my desk versus my nightstand. I even bought it a fancy bed from Amazon. This article talks about the impact of screens before bed.
Since I won’t be drifting off to the soothing sound of Olivia’s voice, I’m going to read instead! This will allow me to start to make a dent in that long list of books I want to read. (Remember this video??) Plus, supposedly, reading before bed is good for you!
I’m going to be upfront and say that this is going to be hard to do EVERY night. So I’m going to try and focus on two types of nights in particular. (1) When Sam is NOT home when I go to bed. Unfortunately, due to his career, this happens once or twice a week. (2) If we get home late and do not have time to watch a FULL episode prior to the time we want to fall asleep.
It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be better. Here’s to better sleep and better habits!
This week’s YouTube winner will win a $50 Barnes and Noble gift card (how appropriate?!) sponsored by Krissyanne Designs. You can enter by commenting on the original Self Care September YouTube Video.
Thank you, Kristin and good luck!
